In the taste of Paul-Elie RANSON and the... - Lot 29 - Chayette & Cheval
In the taste of Paul-Elie RANSON and the Nabi movement Woman standing near a pond Large canvas treated like a decoration, in a large natural wood frame Monogram "R" at the bottom left Dedicated and signed at the bottom right: "To Mr Emile Jandelle His Dedication L....M(onsir?)...06" 70 x 120 cm Provenance: In the family of the present owner, descendant of Emile Jandelle, since the 1900s. It is likely that this painting, whose signature could not be identified despite our research, was originally produced in the context of the work of the Maxim's restaurant at the very end of the 19th century. Notes: Emile Jandelle (1864-1909), a member of a famous family of architects, also distinguished himself as an architect in the construction of numerous private mansions, villas and apartment buildings in and around Paris (Villas Saint-James in Versailles, Brunswick in Sannois, buildings on rue Alphonse Daudet or rue de Boulainvilleirs, restoration of the Château de l'Isle-Adam etc.). Alongside this type of construction, Emile Jandelle has also built or improved several restaurants, cafés and theatres in Paris, with particular attention paid to decor and comfort while respecting public safety. In this respect, we can cite the transformation of the Maxim restaurant in 1894, that of the OIympia theatre in 1900 and various installations at the Folies-Bergères.
