Equinoctial globe sold by 'les fils d'Emile Deyrolle, 46 rue du Bac, Paris (VIIe), early 20th century. Globe composed of 12 colored spindles and 2 polar caps mounted on a cast iron tripod decorated with masks and lion paws; brass half-meridian and brass arc carrying a sphere of the moon. Scale of 1 : 40000,000, indication of the 'possessions and protectorates' of the various states, layout of rail and ocean routes with time of travel, main telegraph lines. The depth of water and the date of discovery of the countries are also indicated. Some light scratches and wear. D. 27cm (approx.) ; H. 55.5cm. The name of 'Les Fils d'Emile Deyrolle' is printed on a paper covering the name of the manufacturer (perhaps Forest). No globe appears in the general catalogue of physics and scientific instruments of the house of Deyrolle.
