Interesting imitation of an 18th century carriage watch signed (movement), 'Planchon Paris 79', circa 1880. White enamel dial with dents (accidents), Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes, cut-out iron hands; brass movement, large barrel, anchor escapement on platform holder mounted on the back plate, cylindrical pillars; silvered metal case embossed with a scene depicting Perseus receiving laurels from the hand of Minerva D. 131mm. Matthieu Planchon (1842-1921), was renowned for his creations inspired by the past, in particular for those modelled on the 18th century - the 'Planchon style' products, as they were called
