Scottish clock with chimes and ringing at half past the hour for the Ottoman market signed (dial) 'F. Sewill Glasgow', circa 1885. Gilt brass dial engraved with geometric designs, applied silvered hour ring with 'Turkish' numerals with, above, three small control dials for chime, setting, and 'Westminster' striking, serpentine half-moon hands; rectangular movement with three wheel bodies, fusees, decorated back plate with tool rotation, steel anchor escapement, single brass balance wheel with blocking system for transport, spring suspension, eight-stamp chime, gong striking ; blackened wood cabinet with ebony veneer (accidents) with matching base, brass and gilt bronze appliques including masks and horns of plenty above and below the door, claw feet, the cap decorated with a frieze (repair) representing an antique procession, corner and center pieces in the form of flames.
