The book also describes the work done by the architect Domenico Fontana (1543-1607) at the request of Pope Sixtus V. The illustration consists of 38 full-page figures and 2 plates, one of which is folding, all engraved on copperplate by Natale Bonifacio (1537-1592), and a frontispiece with the author's portrait.
