The architect Charles-Edouard Isabelle (Le Havre, 1800 - Paris, 1880), entered the Ecole des beaux-arts in 1818. He traveled to Italy, then, upon his return in 1828, was sub-inspector then inspector of the works of the church of the Madeleine in Paris, until 1842. He later realized the hotel of the Customs in Rouen (1835-1842), the theater of Béziers, the works of extension of the schools of arts and trades of Angers (1855-1877) and of Châlons-en-Champagne (1845-1800). In addition to this work, we have from him: Parallèle des salles rondes de l'Italie, antiques et modernes, Paris, Firmin-Didot, 1831; 2nd edition, Lévy, 1863. - Notice sur le tombeau de Napoléon, 1841 (CTHS biographical note).
