Augsburg, [the author], 1694. In-folio, [3] engraved f., 24 p., 30 pl., [6] f., half vellum with old corners, smooth and muted spine (worn and unbound, some light russeting and fingerprints). First edition of this collection, a significant piece of baroque illustration, composed and published by the Augsburg-based engraver Johann Ulrich Kraus (1645-1719). The volume consists of a frontispiece, an engraved title, an engraved plate with the portrait of the dedicatee, Emperor Leopold, and an engraved dedication page; the text (24 p.) is illustrated with a copperplate-engraved entablature and a large initial, and a wood-engraved bas-de-lampe; this is followed by 30 plates consisting of 2 vignettes with title and caption; and finally, 6 pages of table.
