MONTANO (Giovanni Battista). Collection of three publications entirely engraved on copper, in one volume in-folio, antique parchment, spine with 5 edges and mute, restorations to the binding and inside (soiling, qq. stains, sporadic light wetnesses generally marginal; pen tests on the endpapers). 1. [Libro primo. scielta d. varii tempietti antichi. rome, soria, 1624]. 66 plates num. 1-66 (3 leaves missing: title, dedication, portrait of Soria). 2. Diversi ornamenti capricciosi per depositi o altari... novamente inventati... In Roma, apresso al deto Soria, 1625. [2] f. (title with ornate frame, dedication), 37 [of 40] plates (pl. 20, 35 and 36 are missing, and perhaps a portrait of Montano). 3. Tabernacoli diversi novamente inventati... In Roma, [Soria], 1628. 27 plates including 1 title with ornate frame, 1 dedication, 1 portrait of Montano, 1 portrait of Soria and 23 views of tabernacles. This part is complete (Fowler 200 (IV); Cicognara 570; Berlin Kat. 2611). Attached, by the same author: [Tempietti antichi. XVII. s]. In-folio, old Italian paperback cover (russeting, wetness, stains). Fragmentary collection of 25 copper engraved plates showing ancient temples. Interesting set of compositions and surveys by the Italian architect G. B. Montano (1534-1621). The first three collections are in first editions. The plates were engraved by Jérôme David, born in Paris around 1605, who stayed in Rome from 1622 to 1636 before coming back to Paris, where he worked until 1662. That is 2 volumes
