DISTRICT badge. Single-sided oval badge in gold and enamel (39.5 x 36 mm, central plate 30.5 x 24 mm). Center blue enamel sword surmounted by a red Phrygian phrygian bonnet and the gilded letters S and L each surmounted by a fleur-de-lys. VIVRE LIBRE" legend in silver letters. The center is framed by a palm and a branch of laurel and a laurel branch, with a small cartouche base a small cartouche engraved with the number 4. B. Franck, 4th sale (1935), 317 (illustrated). This mysterious, high-quality badge is to be compared with Hennin 35 (whose rarity the author emphasizes its rarity, without being able to attribution) and lot 214 of the Drouot sale 15.06.2009 for the Garde Nationale de Metz. Extremely rare and absolutely superb
