Attributed to Morel. Circa 1870. Dragonfly brooch with trembling wings in gold 750/°°°, + and silver 800/°°° (one wing missing). The animal's body is set with cabochon-cut calibrated emeralds and an antique cushion-cut emerald weighing approx. 0.50 ct. Spring-mounted wings paved with rose-cut diamonds. Removable screw system back.
Dim 4.4 x 7 cm.
Gross weight: 14.59 g.
Shaped case signed inside by Morel cie 62 rue Richelieu, L.D.F. imprint on top. A hidden drawer under the case originally held a screwdriver and perhaps a pin - to change the way the jewel was worn. Missing: wing, screwdriver and accessory.
