[Engraving]. LEPAUTRE (Jean). Set of 297 ornamental plates engraved on copper by J. Lepautre. Prints from the 17th century, or reprints by Mariette in the 18th century. In sheets, in 4 modern folders. The plates are mounted on modern paper, trimmed at the edge of the bowl for some; there are reversed copies. Careful modern annotations in pencil, including references to the Inventory of the French Engravers' Fund. Folder 1: Various pieces of silverware, altars, burials and epitaphs, Roman-style plaques, tabernacles, pulpits, etc. 81 plates. - Folder 2 : Trophies of arms, Roman-style borders, escutcheons or lock escutcheons, book of locksmithing. 68 plates. - Folder 3 : Book of mirrors, tables and pedestal tables, altars, profiles and church facades. 88 plates. - Folder 4 : Fireplaces, alcoves, Roman beds. 60 plates. A strong folder containing suites on the same themes is attached. Prints from the 17th century, or reprints by Pierre Schenck or François Ertinger. It gathers 245 plates, including a large number of complete suites: Mirrors, fireplaces, tabernacles, grottoes, fountains, alcoves, fireplaces, foliage, altars, vases, locks, quarters and corners of ceilings, various ornaments of scrolls, panelling, grotesques etc. That is to say a set of 542 plates, including some doubles or variants.
