JACOUBET (Théodore). General atlas of the city, suburbs and - Lot 37
JACOUBET (Théodore). General atlas of the city, suburbs and monuments of Paris. Engraved by V. Bonnet; written by Hacq. [Paris], s.n., 1836. In-folio, green half-chagrin with pastiche corners, smooth spine, gilt title and fillets, on mitre (head cap rubbed). One of the most important atlases of Paris prior to the Haussmann transformations, this work by the architect Théodore Jacoubet, dedicated to the prefect of the Seine, Count Chabrol de Volvic, is not often encountered. It consists of a double title leaf, and 52 double plates: 1 double f. (title dated 1836, browned); 1 f. (title engraved by Normand in 1827), folding (restored tear without missing), constituting leaves 1 and 2; double plates num. 3 to 7; 1 folding plate (assembly table) constituting leaves 8 and 9 (tear without missing a fold); double plates num. 10 to 52. At the end of the volume is a copy of the map of Paris reduced to a large (ca. 75 × 120 cm), folding sheet. (Pinon Le Boudec, p. 94; Un Atlas parisien, p.138-142, ed. 1827).
